Scott Free Racing Battles the Elements for a Podium Finish at the Sheboygan Midwest Challenge

August 13, 2025

Scott Free Racing took on Round 2 of the Monster Energy Triple Crown Series this past weekend in Sheboygan, WI for the highly anticipated Midwest Challenge. The event featured a two-day race format on Lake Michigan, testing teams with drastically different conditions each day.

Day 1 - Rough and Rowdy on Lake Michigan
Saturday's race brought classic Midwest offshore chaos, with Lake Michigan serving up extremely rough water that kept every team on their toes. Boat control and endurance were key as the pounding waves demanded precision with every turn. Despite the challenging conditions, Scott Free Racing fought hard to maintain pace with the leaders, ultimately securing a well-earned 3rd place finish to open the weekend.

Day 2 - Fog, Focus, and a Shortened Race
Sunday presented a whole new challenge. While the waters had calmed compared to Day 1, visibility became the major factor as heavy fog began to roll in over the lake. The team started strong, quickly finding their rhythm in the clearer early moments of the race. Unfortunately, after just two laps, the fog thickened to unsafe levels, forcing officials to throw the red flag and end the race early. At the time of stoppage, Scott Free Racing was running in 2nd place, which was locked in as the final result for the day.

Weekend Results ? Triple Crown Points Earned
With finishes of 3rd on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday, the combined points placed Scott Free Racing 3rd overall for the weekend - another solid podium finish in the Monster Energy Triple Crown Series. The team leaves Sheboygan with valuable championship points and momentum heading into the next round.

?It was a weekend of adapting to whatever Lake Michigan wanted to throw at us,? said driver Stephen Kildahl. ?Between the pounding waves on Saturday and the wall of fog on Sunday, it was all about staying focused and taking advantage of every lap we could get. We?re proud to come away with another podium and keep pushing in the Triple Crown chase.?

Scott Free Racing now turns their attention to the next stop in the Monster Energy Triple Crown, ready to take on whatever challenges await.
