Scott Free Racing Takes 3rd Place in Hometown Waters
July 10, 2015Scott Free Racing is always excited to compete in their own backyard in Sarasota, FL on the 4th of July weekend. The Sarasota Power Boat Grand Prix is one of the premier stops on the racing circuit, drawing record breaking crowds in the pits and at the beach. The weekend started off with the boat parade and block party giving over 30,000 people the opportunity to see the boats up close and meet with the teams. Saturday brought a full day of qualifying on a new challenging course with a right hand turn. The team was able to lay down their best lap securing a 4th place starting spot for Sunday's race. "We were happy with the performance of the boat, but need to work on the handling a little more before Sunday," said driver Stephen Kildahl. Scott Free Racing was scheduled to race at 1pm on Sunday and conditions were choppy. The team battled for the lead for 6 laps with Lilly Sports Boats until hitting a wrong wave, sending the boat inside a turn marker. After the team circled back around they were able to manage a 3rd place overall for the weekend. You can catch all the racing action on CBS Sports Network July 15th at 7pm.
