Scott Free Racing Battles to 4th at Clearwater Nationals

September 29, 2025

This past weekend, Scott Free Racing took on the Clearwater Nationals in Clearwater, FL, facing tough competition and testing conditions on the Gulf. The team came into the event with a new setup, looking to gather valuable data to help improve performance heading into the final stretch of the season.

The boat handled well throughout the race, but it quickly became clear that a little bit of top-end speed was missing compared to the frontrunners. Despite pushing hard and holding a steady pace, the team had to settle for a hard-fought 4th place finish.

After the checkered flag, post-race inspection revealed damage to the propeller, which further hindered performance on the long, fast Clearwater course. While not the result the team was aiming for, the weekend provided critical insights and learning opportunities that will help fine-tune the setup moving forward.

"Clearwater is always a big event for us, and while 4th place wasn't where we wanted to be, we still gained valuable data that will make us stronger," said driver Stephen Kildahl. "We?ll get everything sorted and be ready to come back faster."

With the Clearwater Nationals now behind them, Scott Free Racing is turning focus toward closing out the season strong and putting the lessons learned to work in the next round.
